Nobody ever thinks bad things will happen on vacation, but the truth is parents and children get separated in crowds and if there is one thing you will find at amusement parks it is crowds.
One of my safety suggestions is that anyone who has a cell phone that handles pictures should have a picture of the whole family where you can clearly see what each person is wearing – a picture that was taken the morning of the trip.
If a child gets lost and the only photo you have is last week’s birthday party or their school photo from the fall, that will help people know what the child looks like BUT knowing exactly what they are wearing is much more helpful to a security team. A ton of kids are four feet tall with short blond hair and blue eyes, but likely only a couple kids will be four feet tall with short blond hair, blue eyes, a Phillies cap, a green t-shirt and sneakers with orange laces.
I know one family who asks someone nearby to take a photo of them at the entrance to the park or by the park sign. This does two things, gives them a photo of everyone and what they are wearing AND it gives them a group shot for the scrapbook so they can spend their day enjoying themselves instead of snapping pictures all day.
All you need is one person to have the picture taken with a cell phone and then that photo can be shared via email or text. If cell service is spotty then it is best to take photos with each phone in case you don’t get a signal.
Found this at the Season Pass office – notice is says “More water than ever before”? That’s ’cause Roller Soaker is out and a spray pad and seating is in. One less coaster, more water. Hmm….

I just took this picture of the Arena on 7/1/2012 and if I took it again today it’d look a lot different due to a four alarm fire yesterday.
The cause is still unknown and fortunately very little damage was done to the Arena and no damage was sustained by Hersheypark. The park remained open during the fire.
Pennlive.com has the article (and a picture that I can’t believe is possible, is Skyrush really that close to the Arena?) here.
